CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY:
Ask: “Can we live without water?” Allow children to share their answers. Teacher then shows pictures of people using water.
USES OF WATER:
Water is useful in our homes, schools, farms, and hospitals. Here are ways we use water:
- Drinking – to quench our thirst
- Cooking – used to cook rice, yam, soup, etc.
- Washing – we wash our clothes, plates, hands, and fruits
- Bathing – used to keep our bodies clean
- Farming – plants need water to grow
- Swimming – we swim in water for fun
- Cleaning – to mop the floor, wash windows and toilets
- Business – like car wash, laundry, fish farming
IMPORTANCE OF WATER:
- Water keeps us alive – we cannot live without it
- It helps food move in our body (digestion)
- It helps clean dirt from our body and things
- It helps plants and animals grow
- It helps us feel cool and fresh on hot days
