CONTENT OF THE LESSON:
What are Files?
Files are things we save on a computer. They help us store information like schoolwork, pictures, music, and videos.
Types of Files
Here are four main types of files:
Type of File | Examples | What They Are Used For |
Documents | Word, PDF | Writing homework, notes, stories, reports. |
Pictures | JPEG, PNG | Saving photos, drawings, and images. |
Audio | MP3, WAV | Storing music, songs, and voice recordings. |
Video | MP4, AVI | Watching movies, animations, and recorded lessons. |
Folder and Directory
- A folder is like a box where we keep related files together.
Example: You can have a folder called “Homework” for saving your school assignments. - A directory is the full path that shows where a file or folder is saved on the computer.
Example:
If your homework is saved in a folder on the C drive, the directory could be:
C:\Documents\Homework
Remember: A folder helps us stay organized so we don’t lose our work!
Copying Files
We sometimes want to make a copy of a file to another folder or computer.
Steps to Copy a File:
- Find the file you want to copy.
- Right-click on the file, and Click “Copy”.
