What Are Keyboard Shortcuts?

Keyboard shortcuts are special combinations of keys you press on the keyboard to do things quickly, without using the mouse.

Imagine you’re working on the computer, and you want to copy something or save your work. Instead of using the mouse to click many things, you can press just two keys together to do it fast!

Common Keyboard Shortcuts and What They Do:

Copy something

Paste what you copied

CTRL + X

Cut (remove) something

CTRL + Z

Undo your last action

CTRL + S

Save your work

CTRL + P

Print your document

CTRL + A

Select everything on the page

Examples:

  • You typed a sentence and want to copy it.
    Just select it and press CTRL + C.
  • You want to save your story or homework.
    Press CTRL + S instead of clicking the Save button.
  • You made a mistake and want to undo it.
    Press CTRL + Z and the mistake goes away!
