By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should be able to observe and identify things in and around the classroom, school, and home.

Lesson 1 — Things in the Classroom

Teacher organises pupils in groups or pairs to identify things in the classroom. Examples include:

  • Chair
  • Table/Desk
  • Chalkboard/Whiteboard
  • Books
  • Fan
  • Windows
  • Doors

Lesson 2 — Things in the School and Around

The teacher takes the pupils for a walk within the school to identify things around the school environment. Examples include:

  • School gate
  • Playground
  • Trees and plants
  • Staff room
  • Library
  • Toilet/Convenience

Assignment

Make a list of 10 things on your way back home.

Lesson Evaluation

  1. Make a list of 10 things in the classroom.
  2. Identify 10 things in the school.
  3. Make a list of 10 things within and around the classroom and the school.
