CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY:

Turn off the classroom light and ask: “Can you see clearly?” Then turn it on and ask again. Explain that what helps us see is called light energy.

MEANING OF LIGHT ENERGY:

Light energy is the kind of energy that helps us to see things. Without light, it would be dark, and we would not see clearly.

SOURCES OF LIGHT ENERGY:

  1. Sun – it gives us natural light
  2. Fire – it gives both light and heat
  3. Electric bulb – it gives light when powered by electricity
  4. Torchlight – it uses battery to give light
  5. Candle – it gives light when burned
  6. Stars and Moon – it give light at night

USES OF LIGHT ENERGY:

  1. Helps us to see in the dark
  2. Helps plants make their food (photosynthesis)
  3. Used in traffic lights
  4. Helps doctors and teachers do their work
  5. Helps us read, write and work at night
