CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY:

Teacher brings a toy car and a torchlight, tries to use them without batteries and then with batteries. Ask pupils: “What helped the torchlight and car to work?” (Expected answer: Battery or Power)

MEANING OF ENERGY:

Energy is the power or strength that makes things work or move. We all need energy to do work.

Example:

  • We need energy to walk, run, and play.
  • Cars need energy (fuel) to move.
  • Television needs energy (electricity) to work.

USES OF ENERGY:

  1. For Movement – Cars, buses, and motorcycles need energy to move.
  2. For Light – We use energy to light our homes, schools, and roads.
  3. For Cooking – Stove and gas use energy to cook food.
  4. For Playing – Toys like electric cars and video games use energy.
  5. For Cooling and Heating – Fans, fridges, and heaters use energy to keep things cool or warm.
