LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

1. Explain the meaning of new words in simple contexts.
2. Use new vocabulary correctly in speech.
3. Identify and write at least 10 new words.
4. Begin a vocabulary list of 50–100 words to be mastered during the term.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

• Flashcards with words and pictures.
• Real objects (bag, pen, ball, etc.).
• Word charts on cardboard.
• Chalkboard/whiteboard.

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY

The teacher greets the pupils and asks them simple questions like:

• “What is this?” (shows a book).
• “Who can name this object?” (shows a ball).

Pupils respond, and the teacher writes the words on the board.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

1. Meaning of Vocabulary

• Vocabulary means the collection of words we know and use when we speak or write.
• Learning new words helps us to read, write and speak better.

1. Examples of New Words (with Pictures/Objects):

• Book – We read a book.
• Bag – We keep things in a bag.
• Pen – We write with a pen.
• Cat – A cat is a pet.
• Dog – A dog is also a pet.
• Sun – The sun gives light.
• Ball – We play with a ball.

1. Sentences Using the Words:

• I have a book.
• This is my bag.
• The pen is blue.
• The cat is small.
• The dog is big.
• The sun is hot.
• I kick the ball.

1. Vocabulary Practice
   The teacher points to real objects or pictures and asks pupils to say the words aloud.
