TOPIC: Continuation – System Unit Internal Features
SUBTOPIC: More Internal Parts and How They Work Together
CLASS: Basic 3
AGE: 7–8 years
DATE: ____________________
PERIOD: ____________________
DURATION: 40 minutes
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
- Identify additional internal parts of the CPU.
- Explain in simple words how these parts work together.
- Appreciate the importance of keeping the CPU clean.
KEY VOCABULARY WORDS
- Hard Disk Drive (HDD)
- Solid State Drive (SSD)
- Expansion Slot
- Graphics Card
- Heat Sink
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
- Diagram of CPU with labels
- Real computer parts (if available)
CONTENT OF THE LESSON
Other Internal Parts of the CPU
Part | Function |
Hard Disk Drive (HDD) | Stores files and programs permanently. |
Solid State Drive (SSD) | Faster storage device, no moving parts. |
Expansion Slot | Space to add more devices like sound or network cards. |
Graphics Card | Shows images, videos, and games clearly. |
Heat Sink | Absorbs heat from the processor to keep it cool. |
Reason why we clean our CPU
Dust can block the fan and cause the CPU to overheat. This makes the computer slow or even damage it.
Components of the CPU
The CPU (Central Processing Unit) has three main parts:
- ALU (Arithmetic Language Unit) – It does calculations.
- CU (Control Unit) – It directs how data moves.
- Registers – It store small bits of data for quick use.
INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY
Teacher shows pupils a dusty fan and a clean fan, asking which is better for the computer.
CLASS EXERCISE 1

CLASS EXERCISE 2
Match the part to its use:
- HDD → __________
- Graphics Card → __________
- Heat Sink → __________
