Catching an Object

Catching an object is when you quickly hold an object (e.g. a ball) that is thrown at you.

How to Catch

  1. Keep your eyes on the ball.
  2. Be ready and focused.
  3. Bend your knees slightly.
  4. Catch the ball.

How to Strike a Ball

  1. Give pupils a plastic bat suitable for their size.
  2. Start with a beach ball, then move on to smaller balls.
  3. Once comfortable with a tennis ball, move on to a regular bat.

Assignment

  1. Catch and strike an object thrown at them.
  2. Differentiate between catching and striking balls.
