INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY

Teacher displays different computer parts (real or pictures) and asks: “Who has seen any of these before?” Pupils respond and identify the ones they know.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

Computers have many parts that help them to work properly. Some of these parts are outside the main computer and are called peripherals.

1. Printer

• A printer is a machine that produces printed copies of work from the computer.
• It prints text and pictures on paper.

2. Scanner

• A scanner is used to send pictures or documents into the computer.
• It works like a photocopy machine but sends the copy into the computer.

3. Hard Disk

• The hard disk is the computer’s main storage device.
• It stores all programs, videos, music, and documents.

4. Flash Drive

• A flash drive is a small device used to store and carry files.
• It is portable and connects through the USB port.

5. USB & OTG Cable

• USB cable connects devices to the computer.
• OTG cable connects a flash drive to a phone or tablet.

6. RAM & ROM

• RAM helps the computer to work fast.
• ROM stores important instructions that help the computer start.
