- Say what technology is.
- State the benefits of technology.
- Describe how things are done before and now.
Entry Behaviour
The pupils can identify and differentiate between a grinding stone and a blender.
Lesson 1 — Meaning of Technology
Technology is the use of knowledge to create new devices or tools. Technology has made people’s lives and work easier.
Examples of technology:
- Television
- Radio
- Fan
- Gas cooker or kerosene stove
- Fridge
- Bulbs
- Padlock
Lesson 2 — Benefits of Technology
- Television — used for viewing and listening to programmes.
- Radio — used for listening to news and other programmes.
- Fan — used for cooling.
- Motor — used for the movement of people and goods from one place to another.
- Telephone — used for making, sending, and receiving calls and SMS.
- Gas cooker — used for cooking.
Lesson 3 — How Things Are Done Before and Now
Discuss how things were done in the past compared to today. Consider:
- How people moved from one place to another
- How people communicated
- How people cooked and farmed
- How people made fire and preserved food
- How people ground pepper
Lesson Evaluation
- Explain what technology is.
- Mention 5 products of technology.
- State 5 benefits of technology.
- Describe how people moved, communicated, cooked and farmed before technology.
