CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY:

Teacher holds up a keyboard and asks:

  • “Can anyone tell me what this is?”
  • “What do we use it for on the computer?”

Pupils respond and explore the keyboard if available.

MEANING OF KEYBOARD

  • The keyboard is a part of the computer used to type letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • It has many keys.
  • Each key has a letter, number, or symbol on it.

USES OF THE KEYBOARD

We use the keyboard to:

  1. Type letters (A–Z)
  2. Type numbers (0–9)
  3. Press the spacebar to leave spaces
  4. Use Enter to move to a new line
  5. Use Backspace to erase

SOME KEYS ON THE KEYBOARD:

  • Letter keys: A, B, C…
  • Number keys: 1, 2, 3…
  • Spacebar
  • Enter
  • Backspace
