Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should be able to:
- Explain the meaning of exploring.
- Identify types of roads around and outside the school.
Lesson 1 — Meaning of Exploring
Exploring the environment means walking around in a new environment to learn, search, or discover new things.
The teacher takes the pupils for a walk within the environment to identify and state some of the basic features.
Lesson 2 — Types of Roads
1. Private Roads
Roads within or inside a school or private compound. Access to these is restricted to members only.
2. Community Roads
These roads are built by communities to access their residences or farmlands.
3. District/Local Government Roads (Trunk C)
These roads are constructed and managed by the local government authorities. They link one street to another within the local government area.
4. State Roads (Trunk B)
These roads are constructed and managed by the state government. They connect local government areas together.
5. Federal Roads (Trunk A)
These are wider roads that connect all states in Nigeria together. Some share borders with neighbouring countries.
